A Few Common Plants That Can Be Dangerous to Your Dog
- Daffodils. If consumed by a dog, a daffodil bulb can cause diarrhea, vomiting, convulsions, other awful symptoms, and in serious cases, even death.
- Tulips. Tulips are another flower with a bulb poisonous to dogs. A dog that eats a tulip bulb may experience severe mouth irritation, drooling, and nausea.
- Mums. Mums, like any other plant in the chrysanthemum family, can be dangerous for your dogs. They can cause drooling, incoordination, vomiting and diarrhea.
- Aloe Vera. While the gel of an aloe vera plant is not considered dangerous, the plant itself can cause diarrhea, vomiting, and lethargy.
- Azalea. Azaleas are extremely toxic to dogs and can cause weakness, diarrhea, vomiting and even cardiac failure.
- Sago Palm. The sago palm is incredibly toxic to dogs. Its consumption can lead to increased thirst, vomiting, bruising, liver damage and even liver failure and death.
- Ivy. If your dog ingests ivy, diarrhea, drooling, vomiting, and stomach pain may follow.
- Tomato Plants. If you have a tomato plant, make sure it is out of your dog’s reach. If your pet consumes it, it may result in confusion, a slowed heart rate, drowsiness, vomiting, and gastrointestinal problems.
